If we would point to a single most important indication of education (being educated), I believe that shall be the ability of an individual to operate with abstract concepts in a written form. In other way, that is a capacity to formulate ideas and write about complex matters. Of course, the highest level of such a mastery is the skill of writing a complex text in the simplest way.
